✨ Why This Class Exists
Most artists struggle not with skill, but with consistency.
There’s no teacher, no grade, no deadline.
Just you—and a desire to create.
But without a system to show up, it’s easy to get stuck.
Showing up isn’t a personality trait—it’s a skill.
And just like any other skill, it can be learned and practiced.
This Bootcamp gives you the structure, support, and plan to make that happen.
💡 What Makes This Different?
Unlike most classes that focus only on technique, in this bootcamp, you’ll learn:
Habit Essentials – Simple systems around time, space, mindset, and materials.
Weekly Projects – Designed to help you build momentum, not perfection.
Every lesson is practical. Every tool is usable.
This is not about painting or drawing more. It’s about showing up smarter.
🧠 What You’ll Learn:
Over 8 weeks, each module will dive into a habit essential and a project.
💭 Week 1: Mindset + Contour Drawing
Clear the mental clutter and build the self-talk that helps you show up.
Plus explore a project that helps you learn to see and is your go to for when you are super busy. Proof that showing up each day doesn’t have to be HARD.
🕰️ Week 2: Time + Grid Drawing
You don’t need more time, you need to elarn how to USE the time you have. Learn the FITS Framework to create a realistic, repeatable schedule.
Plus discover an approach to drawing that builds your skills while also helping you get accuracy.
🪑 Week 3: Space + Value Studies
Set up a space that works for your life right NOW (yes, even a kitchen table counts).
Plus improve your values skills (which are the jumping off point to composition.)
🎨 Week 4: Materials + Color Studies
Choose and simplify your tools so they support your goals—not sabotage them.
Plus, discover a way to explore color that helps you learn to translate value into color. If you’ve been doing value studies but haven’t felt like they’ve been helping… it might be because you haven’t yet learned this crucial next step.
🧪 Week 5: Projects: Skills Based Projects + Color Swatching
Stop asking, “What should I work on today?” Walk in with a PLAN. You’ll get a big picture overview of the different types of projects you can work on each day and we’ll dive into the best project for small amounts of time and skill building.
Plus, discover a great project that helps you intentionally build color skills without the stress of finishing a painting. Perfect for when you get a new set of materials. But it’s also a great project to help you show up while traveling or during especially demanding times of your life. Remember, building a habit is about building tools that adapt to different seasons in your life.
✏️ Week 6: Multi-Step Projects + Multi-Step Painting
Painting is so more than just brush on surface… let’s explore what goes into a painting process. This is the first step to building a style AND finding a path through the ugly stage.
Plus, put everything you’ve been learning over the past 6 weeks and worth through a finished painting.
🎯 Week 7: Alla Prima Projects + Alla Prima Painting
Daily painters love this approach and you will too. Discover what goes into alla prima paintings and see if it’s a good fit for your art habit.
Plus it’s time to try your very own alla prima paintings.
🧩 Week 8: Putting It All Together + Elements Play
Create your personalized art practice plan that fits your time, energy, and life.
Plus discover a low stress way to explore new subjects in your sketchbook. Great for travel!

💡FAQ
-
Perfect. This course is designed to expand or contract based on how much time you have. Ideally you’d have 60 minutes each day to focus on the material.
Each week participants will have two main goals:
Show up and work on a project (you’ll get a video tutorial with a new one each week.)
Listen to the Habit Essentials (the systems and structures you’ll work to build to make showing up as easy as possible. (These are audio lessons.)
This means that some weeks you’ll spend your hour: 20 minutes on the project and 40 minutes listening to the lessons. Other weeks are more like 40 minutes on the project and 20 minutes listening to the lessons. The audio lessons are divided up into bite size chunks, so you can listen to a 10 minute lesson here and a 7 minute lesson there.
-
Both. If you’re self-taught and craving structure, this is your roadmap. The projects are good for both beginners and intermediates. They begin fairly simply with contours and then build in complexity.
-
You’ll get a new module each week. Do your best and you’ll have the whole course available to you (minus the community and LIVE weekly sessions) through July 2026.
-
The 20for20 is a self-directed program, meaning you design your project and then show up and do the work.
The Art Habit Bootcamp is a bit more directed. Meaning, each week you’ll get a video tutorial showing you how to do that week’s project. You’ll have a chance to try it with the same reference I use for day 1. Then for the rest of the week, you’ll use additional images to try the same project.
You’ll run into challenges, send me a questions and I’ll work to answer it in one of the weekly live calls. This will help with skill growth.
So that's the PROJECTS side of the Bootcamp. It’s the doing.
But there is also the HABIT philosophy side. Each week you’ll get a new module focusing on a habit essential including time, space, materials, and projects. These are the systems and structures you’ll begin to build into your art practice to build the habit side of things.
So the Bootcamp has two parts happening in tandem: You’re learning how to hold space by showing up each day with the projects and then as you show up, you’re learning what systems will make that as easy as possible long term.
-
In the Bootcamp, we’ll be focused on building technical skills. We’ll work on a new skill each week and they will build towards working through paintings. The goal of these projects is to be flexible so that they can expand or contract based on your personal time restraints. They are also meant as a sampler, showing students the wide array of projects they can build into an art practice. It can be about paintings… but it can also be about building specific and focused skills.
Module 1: Contour drawing
Module 2: Grid drawing
Module 3: Value studies
Module 4: Color studies (with dry media)
Module 5: Color Swatching
Module 6: Multi-Step Paintings
Module 7: Alla Prima Paintings
Module 8: Elements Play (Sketchbook work)
-
You would have until July 30th for a full refund. That would give you a chance to get a feel for the class including the first full module to see if it’s a good fit.
-
I’ll be your teacher for everything, including both the projects (video lessons) and the habit essentials (audio lessons)
-
The full price of the Art Habit Bootcamp will eventually be $497, with the next round priced at $297. But since this upcoming session is the founding round—and I’ll be using it to gather feedback and refine the course—folks can join for just $197.
Since this is the beta round, I’m asking that everyone signing up go through the course in real time with the group. That means following the weekly release schedule and joining the weekly live calls if you can. I’ll also be asking for feedback along the way, so I can improve and refine the course for future versions.
Then after the 8 weeks are up, you'd have access to the course for another 44 weeks to revisit the material.
-
The Art Habit Bootcamp fits perfectly between 20for20 Challenges. You will be able to build on some of the concepts you started learning in the 20for20. When you finish the Bootcamp, you will be able to design a project that’s perfect for the NEXT 20for20 Challenge (or to head out on your own.)
